FACE OF FOOTHILLS:
With each year, a new group is chosen to represent Arizona Foothills Magazine.
AZ Foothills selects 3 individuals to represent the magazine, Adult, Teen and Junior. Hundreds of contestants and over a million online votes pile through, narrowing down the top 10 candidates in each category.
Luxe and City was invited to join this year’s selection panel in a final round of Q&A with the adult and teen finalists. Interviews took place over champagne and tea at Teaspressa Downtown Phoenix. The goal, select the best advocates for the magazine.
After the contestants shared their stories, goals and aspirations, the panel was left with the difficult decision of selecting only two winners.
Ava Cashman, Face Of Foothills, Age 18
Annastasia Stock, Face Of Foothills Teen, Age 17
During a Q&A session the girls gave us insight on what it means to represent the magazine: Here's what Annastasia had to say.
What does it mean to be the Face Of Foothills Teen and what comes with the title?
I'm so honored to have the title. The opportunity to represent an iconic luxury magazine in the valley as a young female leader is truly a dream.
As the FOF Teen, my responsibilities include being a brand ambassador for both the magazine and partners of the magazine. I hope my message will have a positive impact on readers and encourage other young females to pursue their goals and dreams. I’m so blessed to have this opportunity, and I’m really excited to work with my foothills family.
My grand prize included a photo spread, written feature, a $1,000 cash prize, makeup by Jaclyn Taylor Cosmetics, and a Beach Bunny swimsuit.
What was the most challenging aspect leading to the final?
Aside from the strenuous voting process, once that was over and we were narrowed down to top 10, setting myself apart from the other candidates was challenging.
As the Face of Foothills, what are your plans this year?
I’ll be attending GCU for advertising and marketing, I’m excited to take this opportunity, learn from it, and translate it into an educational experience.
This year I’d like to focus on promoting fitness and well being. It’s hard to focus on actual events with everything going on due to COVID-19. I love hiking and thought it would be fun as the Teen FOF to do virtual hikes or runs, exploring different trails and motivating others to stay active..
Even though it was postponed, I’m still really excited to host the Night Swim Magazine Launch Event with Ava and Luxe and City. I’ll keep everyone updated on when that will be scheduled.
As a Top 40 Phoenix Fashion Week Model, you've been involved with the industry for some time. Do you think being involved building awareness before hand gave you an edge in the competition, and what would you suggest to future candidates?
Most definitely! I think being a part of PHXFW Top 40 gave me a boost in confidence. As Top 40 we do go-sees, red carpet interviews, practice runway walks and we're constantly speaking to a lot of different people. These aspects brought me out of my shell so I felt really positive going into the final interview round with Foothills.
To future FOF candidates I’d recommend getting involved, put yourself out there and be confident. Try something new. I’ve always been a shy person and never thought I’d be able to be as successful and confident as I am now.
